The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at
California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo (Cal
Poly) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty
position in the area of Software Engineering at the Assistant
Professor rank beginning Fall Quarter 2022. Salary is commensurate
with qualifications and experience.

Duties include teaching undergraduate and master’s level courses
in line with Cal Poly’s Learn by Doing pedagogy which
involves extensive lab work and projects, supporting and expanding
curricular development in the area of Software Engineering,
pursuing research in the area of Software Engineering and/or
Computer Science and providing service to the department, the
university, and the community. Candidates should display evidence
of ability to teach courses in software engineering, and, possibly
other areas supporting CSSE programs.

Required Qualifications:

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Software
Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited
institution or international equivalent is required for
appointment. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD)
will be considered, but must provide official transcripts
confirming that the doctorate has been completed prior to the start
of the appointment.  

Candidates must have significant experience in working with
underrepresented students in research, teaching, service, advising,
mentoring or community engagement. The experience is expected to be
commensurate with the candidate’s involvement in the field of
computing.

Candidates must have a strong interest in teaching courses in
the area of Software Engineering and a strong commitment to
teaching excellence and laboratory-based instruction, dedication to
continued professional development and scholarship, and a
broad-based knowledge of computer science/software engineering.
Candidates must have a strong commitment to working in a
multidisciplinary and collaborative setting. Demonstrated ability
in written and oral use of the English language is required.

The successful candidate must have the ability to work
effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse ethnic,
cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Cal Poly is committed to
